'Jeans Day' passes for perfect attendance
Beginning Monday, March 1, students will be rewarded for “perfect attendance” on a weekly basis.
On Mondays, students who have “perfect attendance” for all classes the previous week will be given a “Jeans Day Pass" to be used on Tuesday. The Dress Code for Jeans Day is the same as the Dress Code for Fridays.
All Code of Conduct Rules apply, meaning all assigned consequences (detentions and Saturday School) and all community service (depending on the number of demerits accumulated) must be served prior to using the pass.
For the purposes of this incentive program, “perfect attendance" means no absences at all (excused or unexcused).
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Partain.
Club promises food, fun for early birds
Students enjoy a healthy breakfast and live entertainment at Phoenix School's weekly Breakfast Club.
Sponsored by a grant from Action for Healthy Kids, the club meets every Thursday to promote healthy lifestyle and eating habits using stories, music and DVDs. Once a month there will be a themed breakfast linking to characters and activities from the curriculum. Parents are invited to join their children for the themed breakfast mornings.
The program's goal is to increase the number of elementary students who eat at school, reduce tardies and increase overall attendance by making breakfast a fun and entertaining activity.

THANK YOU
FOOD DRIVE DONATIONS
Phoenix Charter School would like to thank all the families that supported the Super One Foods Can Food Drive. A huge truckload of cans and packaged foods were collected as part of the program to help provide food for families in Greenville.
PROJECT FIREBIRD SPONSORS
Project Firebird is one of many ways Phoenix Charter School assists families in need. Thanks to all who sponsored this worthy cause, especially Cytec, Alliance Bank, and the Brigance Family.
CICI'S NIGHT
Eat at CiCi's the first Monday of every month and earn money for the school. Ten percent of all sales between 5 and 8 p.m. go back to the school.
FLU SEASON
While there have been no confirmed cases of the H1N1 Virus (Swine Flu) at Phoenix Charter School, we would like to remind you of tips to prevent that flu and other illnesses.
• Eat well, get rest, and maintain cleanliness
• Please help your child develop the habit of covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
• Encourage and model hand washing after sneezing, coughing, and especially before eating.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; germs are spread this way.
• Limit contact with anyone who is sick.
Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep him or her at home and contact your health professional.
Please notify the school in case of absence.
PENCILS AVAILABLE
Pencils can be purchased for 25 cents at pencil dispensers the PTO has set up in front of the Epilson and Alpha offices.
ATTENTION PARENTS
For the safety of all children at Phoenix, parents and visitors must present a valid government picture driver’s license or ID to the office secretary when visiting or signing-out a student.
For parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students, no office badges will be signed out from 2:45 to 3:00 pm.
For parents of 1st and 2nd grade students, no office badges will be signed out from 3:15 to 3:30 pm.
During dismissal, please wait outside until your child is called. Parents may not wait in the hallway or by the office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
VISITOR PARKING
There are a minimum of visitor parking spaces on the campus. Several spaces are in front of Delta Building where visitors to Alpha and Beta Buildings check in. The rock parking area also has space for visitors. Spaces with a number are reserved for staff members, please do not park there.
PLEASE WATCH YOUR SPEED
The speed limit is 10 mph on the school campus. Please monitor your speed and be on the watch for children; they don’t always watch for you. We have a lot of cars cutting in line and speeding, especially in the mornings. Please be aware and practice safe driving.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
PTO is sponsoring a pizza party each six weeks for the class which has collected the most Box Tops for Education. Please write your child’s name and teacher’s name on the collection.
Please help our school raise money by remembering to save your Box Tops for Education, Fast Fixins labels, Campbell soup labels, Tyson Project A+. If you use your Target card, Phoenix School PTO will get a percentage of your purchase. Shopping at OrientalTrading.com and schoolpop.com (formerly schoolcash.com) is another way to help the school earn cash.
